About Catch 21 Seafood Restaurant
At Catch 21, located at 441 S Central Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90013, compassion meets community in the heart of Skid Row. This family-run restaurant, founded in 1990 by Kenny Chao, has become a refuge for those facing hardship, offering a free hot meal, phone charging, toiletries, and even a welcoming place to rest.
Here, Kevin Call, once a customer, found more than kindness; he found purpose. Offered and accepted a job at Catch 21 years ago, Kevin transitioned from homelessness to recovery, eventually becoming a guiding light and honorary "mayor" of Skid Row. Today, Catch 21 and Kevin host weekly outreach events where hot meals are served alongside dignity, dignity alongside solidarity.
Catch 21's doors have also welcomed countless Do Good initiatives and community partners like Humanity Heroes, Operation Water Drop, Stanton ECHO, and our own Do Good International, providing the venue for food, water, clothing, hygiene kits, medical services, and hope.
Community outreach happens here or at 5th and Towne every Sunday. A place where volunteers and patrons break bread alongside one another, reinforcing that everyone deserves nourishment and belonging. Kevin's journey, from Skid Row customer to community leader is proof that empathy, opportunity, and fresh starts thrive here.
